How weight loss medication works

GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonists mimic the hormones that regulate blood sugar levels and appetite.

Insulin Secretion

It stimulates the pancreas to release insulin when blood sugar levels are high, helping to lower blood glucose.

Appetite Cravings

It affects areas of the brain that regulate appetite, leading to reduced hunger and increased feelings of fullness. This effect makes semaglutide useful for weight loss.

Weight Loss

In addition to helping regulate blood sugar, semaglutide has been shown to help people lose significant amounts of weight by reducing caloric intake.

Gastric Emptying

It slows down the rate at which the stomach empties its contents into the intestines, which helps reduce the rate at which sugar is absorbed into the bloodstream.

There’s a reason why everyone is talking about GLP and GIP medication. They work.

Who is eligible for treatment?

A GLP-1 agonist might be for you if you need an adjuvant for lifestyle modifications in losing weight or controlling metabolic parameters, like blood glucose. If you have a BMI of over 25, you may be an eligible candidate for treatment.

If you are not approved for treatment, your medication costs will be fully refunded.

What states is Weight Loss Protocol available in?

Weight Loss Protocol is currently available in all 50 states except Alaska and Washington D.C.

Can I use my HSA or FSA card to pay for Weight Loss Protocol?

Maximus accepts Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).

Using your HSA/FSA is easy. Simply use your HSA/FSA card as you would any other debit or credit card when providing your billing information.

HSA/FSA plans vary on what services they are willing to cover. If you are uncertain whether your plan covers Maximus' services, check with your plan administrator.

If I have been previously prescribed GLP-1, can I start at that dosage with Maximus?

If you have documentation of previous GLP-1 agonist usage, our providers will work with you to find an optimal dose that matches your profile.

Do you charge extra for higher doses?

Unless you have purchased the 90-day starter pack, you are eligible for fully custom titration all included in the same monthly or quarterly price. Work with your doctor to determine the correct dosages for your needs.

Which treatment option is best for me, Semaglutide (GLP-1) or GLP-1 + GIP?

Both Semaglutide (GLP-1) and GLP-1 + GIP have been shown to be extremely effective in helping patients lose weight. Semaglutide (GLP-1) has been shown to help patients lose 14.9% of body weight over 68 weeks (2.4mg once per week), while GLP-1 + GIP has been shown to help patients lose 20.9% of body weight over 72 weeks (15mg once per week).

For those seeking the more affordable option, we recommend Semaglutide (GLP-1). For those seeking the most effective treatment, we recommend GLP-1 + GIP.

What are the other health side effects I should be considering?

Common side effects include: nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting. If you experience side effects please discuss with your Maximus doctor as there may be medications or dosages recommended to best manage side effects.

Why is this only available for new customers?

Successful weight loss and maintenance is a long-term commitment. However, many people are hesitant to try prescription medication due to the price. Maximus has partnered with high-quality pharmacies to offer a special price for new customers to try the medication and see how it works for them. There is no commitment to continue purchasing medication after the starter pack, just remember to cancel your protocol before it renews.

How long until I see results?

Your results are contingent upon adherence to diet and exercise. Appetite suppression and craving reduction starts shortly after beginning the medication. Noticeable results in weight loss start within the first few weeks after the medication reaches a steady state dosage.

How does/can this work with other Maximus Protocols?

The GLP-1 protocol can be used as an adjuvant to the other Maximus protocols to boost your overall well being in all facets of your life.

Is the Maximus Weight Loss Protocol available for both men and women?

Yes – Semaglutide (GLP-1) is available to both men and women.

Is this compounded with base form or salt form?

This protocol is compounded with base form.

What is the price difference between Semaglutide (GLP-1) and GLP-1 + GIP?

- Monthly after that: $199.99/month
- Or switch to Quarterly: $189.99/month(billed as $566.97 every 3 months)

What is a starter pack?

A Starter Packis a one-time option for new patients who are just getting started on GLP-1 medications. It includes the first three starter doses of either Semaglutide or Tirzepatide in one shipment.

Here’s what that looks like:

Semaglutide:

- Month 1: 0.25 mg
- Month 2: 0.5 mg
- Month 3: 1.0 mg

Tirzepatide:

- Month 1: 2.5 mg
- Month 2: 5.0 mg
- Month 3: 7.5 mg

It’s simple, upfront, and sets you up for success.

Why is the starter pack so cheap?

The Starter Pack includes only the starting doses, not higher doses or monthly provider check-ins. It’s designed to help new patients try the medication affordably.

Later on, when your body is ready for higher doses and more regular check-ins, you’ll move to our standard monthly or quarterly plans.

What happens after 3 months?

You’ll automatically roll into our monthly plan (unless you tell us otherwise). Or, you can switch to the quarterly plan, which also saves you money and reduces how often you receive shipments.

You’ll be eligible for higher doses and ongoing support once you transition to a regular plan.
